Knee-jerk pedophilia accusations are rooted in homophobia and are of course fundamentally wrong. Still, I’ve seen older gay men hitting on friends since I was in high school. It’s not any less predatory than when straight men do the same to young women, and often there’s an added element of “gay mentorship” to a newly out young person. Their relationship (and yours) may be outliers but that doesn’t negate the fact that it’s part of a larger community issue. (Ed Buck, for example.)
